About SKMED

Care that feels like family.

SKMED brings professional nursing and personal support into your home, so your loved one can stay where they feel most comfortable — surrounded by the people and things they know.

Our Mission

To provide safe, compassionate, reliable and high-quality healthcare services in the comfort of our clients' homes — delivering personalized care that promotes health, dignity, privacy, confidentiality, independence, recovery, and overall well-being, while supporting individuals and families with professionalism, empathy, respect, and excellence.

Our Vision

To be a trusted leader in home-based healthcare, setting the standard for compassionate, professional, and quality care — while improving the health, dignity, independence, and quality of life of every individual we serve.

How We Care

Two ways to receive care

However much support your family needs, SKMED builds a plan around it — from continuous, round-the-clock nursing to scheduled visits.

Stay-In Services

Full-time, round-the-clock care. A nurse — or a rotating team of nurses — stays with your loved one, providing a full 24 hours of dedicated care and supervision.

24-hour coverage

Stay-Out Services

Flexible, part-time visits from our nurses and physicians. Choose the length of care that fits your household — 6, 8, or 12-hour sessions.

Families We've Supported

Trusted in the moments that matter

A few words from the families who've welcomed our nurses into their homes.

When my mother needed round-the-clock care after her stroke, SKMED's nurses treated her like family — not just a patient. That meant everything to us.
Family of a Stay-In Care client
Being able to call and speak to a nurse about my father's medication saved us an unnecessary trip to the clinic. Quick, clear, and reassuring.

The team stayed with my husband throughout his hospital admission and made sure nothing was missed. We felt safe the entire time.

Questions

Good to know

What's the difference between stay-in and stay-out care?
Stay-in care is full-time — a nurse, or a rotating team of nurses, provides round-the-clock, 24-hour care in your home. Stay-out care is part-time — nurses or physicians visit for set sessions of 6, 8, or 12 hours, based on what your family needs.
Is care really available 24 hours a day?
Yes. SKMED operates 24 hours, every day, so stay-in care and emergency support are always available — including holidays.
Where do you provide care?
We provide home healthcare to clients across Ghana. Contact us with your location and we'll confirm availability for your household.
Who looks after my loved one — are they qualified?
Care is provided by trained nurses, with a stand-by physician we can call on for guidance or emergencies. For elderly clients especially, we focus on building real rapport so they feel comfortable and cared for, not just monitored.
What happens in a medical emergency?
Our nurses are trained to respond immediately — contacting a stand-by physician or arranging transfer to the nearest hospital, whichever the situation calls for.
Can I get medical advice without a home visit?
Yes — our phone call service covers consults, lab result interpretation, prescriptions, test requests, and health education, all by phone.
How much does home care cost?
Cost depends on the type of care (stay-in or stay-out), the hours required, and the client's condition. Call or email us for a plan built around your family's needs.
How do I get started?
Call or email us to describe the care you need. We'll talk through your situation, agree a care plan, and match you with the right nurse or caregiver — see "How It Works" above for the full process.
